District Grant Project Proposal

DESCRIPTION

According the a study by the World Bank, the poverty rate of Ulaanbaatar (UB) city is
at 18.8 percent, and 2/3 of those in poverty are children below 18 years of age. Because
of financial strain, these children lack the income to spend on extracurricular activities,
which are essential for a balanced maturity and personal growth. Through our project,
we are targeting those who are in most need by providing them the opportunity to spend
their time in a productive way, thus reducing risk of these children to be exposed to
harmful way of life including, petty crime, etc.

How does the project meet the community needs?

The project is designed to make positive and long-lasting change in children’s’ life from targeted low-income families
through sport. UB Peace Avenue RC partnered with Besiktas FC to give a positive experience for chosen kids via their
favourite sport, team building, and other extra-curricular educational activities.
Because of financial strain, these children lack positive and productive extracurricular activities, which are essential for
a balanced maturity and personal growth. Through our project, we are selected 15 children from low income families to
participate at the Besiktas football club, in Amgalan, one of the the city’s outskirt districts. The training started in
October 1st of 2015 and ended on March 31 st . The classes were 3 times a week after school at the club which they have
an indoor and outdoor soccer field for practice. The children loved their practices and learned to work in a team.
