Let’s Read

On July 1, 2019, the Rotary Club of Ulaanbaatar Peace Avenue along with Rotary Club of Dublin-Worthington, RID 6690, USA delegates have donated books to the Ger Community Space’s library. Ger Community Space is the first-ever non-administrative and non-political community space in the suburbs of Ulaanbaatar, the capital city. The children in the photo are the beneficiaries of the library and the community center which is being created and expanded with many kind people and an organization’s hard work and diligent commitment.

Notwithstanding pandemics, in the Rotary year 2019-20, funds have been raised in Mongolia, Hong Kong, and the USA for the creation of the library as well as training at the beneficiary (postponed due to the lockdown situation).

As usual, the club members conducted a needs assessment, pitched to project to potential partners contributed to discussions with beneficiaries in relation to coming up with an inventory of the tailored library, procurement of the books as well as handover. The project is awaiting the end of the lockdown so that training can be conducted.

4 Rotary clubs collaborated: Rotary Club of Ulaanbaatar Peace Avenue, Rotary Club of North Point and Rotary Club of Amizade (RID 3450) and RC of Dublin-Worthington (RID 6690). We are also grateful to our partner Internom book store and Admon publishing company for the very kind donation as well.
